Edward Tate’s group at Imperial College London developed a potent and selective activity-based probe for KLK6 (kallikrein-related peptidase), a secreted serine protease with a role in pancreatic cancer. The best probe efficiently reduced invasiveness of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells that secrete active KLK6. Also, these novel KLK6 probes can be used as a toolset to validate KLK-associated signalling partners across many diseases. Pravin supported this study by determining a range of KLK6 crystal structures with the probes bound.
